Wendy Z Ashley has presented to the Astrological Society of Connecticut (ASC) and other astrological and Jungian venues… and teaches her students:

How We Live Mythologies

The Lecture will be a talk, with slides, illustrating how it is that we live a myth and how the myth can be discovered in the horoscope. The horoscopes of the famous and not so famous will be used.

The Workshop will be in two parts: In the morning I will show the whole sky and its constellations as originally mythic in nature and will show how it is that this material was forgotten in the interests of simplifying and schematizing astrology. For example, it is not the Crab which is the gourmand in the sky, but the Bear directly above it. And it is not the Scales of Libra which give that sign its association with Marriage but it is the Bridal Wreath of Corona Borealis directly above it. After an orientation to the 88 constellations traditional in the West in the morning, we will attempt to locate a myth we might be living ourselves using our horoscopes in the afternoon. This is graduate level work in astrology and we cannot attempt to find every participants mythos in one afternoon, but we will discover some! Seeing one's life through the lens of a myth is stunning in its appropriateness. It is not something one must do to live well, but once taken by the field of myth, there is no turning back.

BIO:
Wendy Ashley is a Mythic Astrologer whose 40 years of study has restored to astrology those mythic roots handed down from the dim recesses of time. Contrary to conventional belief, Astrology was not born in Mesopotamia some 2,000 to 4,000 years ago, but has been steadily developed over 60,000 years of modern human history. Every culture in the world has projected its myths onto the sky.

Wendy shares her deep knowledge of sky mythology with people interested in understanding the affect of the mythic world upon us each and all. Her teachers include Joseph Campbell and Dr Charles Ponce, mythologists and archetypalists, and great astrologer Marcia Moore. Her intention is to broaden astrological awareness and to increase our understanding of how our lives have meaning through the metaphors of the Gods.

She has a degree in Cultural Anthropology, in Naked-Eye Astronomy and in Women's Studies. She is published in "Communicating The Horoscope," ed Noel Tyl, Llewellyn, 1993 and in "Under One Sky," ed Raffi Nassar, Seven Paws Press, 2004. Her book "Paleolithic Astrology and Naked Eye Astronomy" was self published in 2002. See “Pubs for Sale” section.

Today Wendy lives on an island off the coast of Maine where she can see the stars clearly. Every year she conducts a week long intensive in mythic astrology - usually just after Labor Day in Maine. She has correspondence students and sees clients in Maine and New York or on the telephone.
